The Benefits of Industry Events – MEE Biz and Breakfast 2017!

For the better part of my career, I have had the privilege to work alongside some of the best commercial transportation and safety professionals in the business. For both of these tightly aligned groups there is one thing that is consistent – change! Whether it is a new regulation that will alter the way a trucking company operates or a new and innovative approach to safety, there is always an ongoing opportunity to learn and improve.

There are many different ways you can get this new information; you can sign up for industry newsletters, be part of various industry associations or attend educational conferences/sessions. I am proud to work for an organization that values the sharing of knowledge and education and happy to be part of the 3rd annual MEE Biz and Breakfast – another great way to learn about changes and trends affecting our industry.

Last year I had the opportunity to attend this annual event as a guest and was very impressed with the caliber of both the speakers and the attendees. This year I have been deeply involved in the planning of the event and look forward to sharing and learning new insights on safety, compliance, and insurance in the trucking industry.

To start our day, John Oldfield from Dalton Timmis Insurance will use his 30 plus years of experience to moderate a panel of insurance professionals. Included in this group of industry veterans are:

– Angelique Magi, VP of Strategic Initiatives at the Guarantee Insurance Company of North America

– Don Williams, Senior Manager, Transportation/Fleets, Complex Risk at Aviva Canada

– Brenda Smythe, Director Corporate Underwriting Reginal at Economical Insurance

I will also have the privilege of being part of this panel and apply my 12 years of experience in Risk Services at Northbridge Insurance.

Once our insurance panel wraps up, and our guests have had a chance to network with some of the industry professionals in the room, Maeve Davis, VP of Client Services at ISB Canada, will educate our guests on one of the hottest topics today – Social Media Investigations. With access to so many social media platforms, Meave will share how businesses can use them to their advantage.

After another quick networking and sponsor break, our final presentation will be sure to educate and entertain the group. Officer Paul Cabral of Roadworthy Consulting, will share some of the best practices and situations he has experienced from his many years as a Waterloo Regional Police Officer, MTO Inspector and licensed AZ Driver. This is a presentation you do not want to miss.

As always events such as these are not possible without the support of industry sponsors and partners. This year we have the following companies representing at our Biz and Breakfast:

With a lineup of great speakers, I believe this is going to be an awesome and educational event!
