I want to encourage women into non-traditional roles, promote their accomplishments and minimize obstacles faced by women working in the trucking Industry. I still learn everyday and I’d like to be able to help the new drivers entering this great Industry. My father always said ” the day you think you know it all, is the day you need to hang up your keys ” My Love and Passion for the trucking industry made me realize that if I remained silent on issues important to me then I have no room to complain . I’ve 27 yrs in the Transportation Industry, the last 17 yrs in a Big Truck. I started in a school bus while my children were young. Then I drove a coach for a few years. Then I went into a straight truck driving Canada and the USA. Then I followed my dreams into a big truck. I drove solo for a couple of years and my husband decided to get his license and we’ve been driving team ever since. I’ve been employed by Sharp Transportation Systems Inc for the over 12 yrs.

Once again this year I had the privilege of attending the THRSC Atlantic 2017 Advancing Women in the Trucking Industry Annual Conference.  This event is not only  educational it’s truly inspiring to the women of the industry. It never ceases to amaze me the creativity these ladies come up with for this event.  They are truly an inspiration to others !

I first came into contact with Kelly Henderson ( THRSC Executive Director )  thru the Women’s Trucking Federation of Canada’s facebook page.  Soon we were sharing emails, phone calls and a few laughs along the way.  Kelly has been a great inspiration to me, I’m ever so thankful she took me under her wing. She believed in me and my vision for the women of this industry , when nobody else did. She shares my passion and excitement for the future of our industry.

Your probably asking yourself why this particular conference was so remarkable this year ?  THRSC Atlantic gave everyone in attendance the opportunity to join WTFC courtesy of them. What a great show of support for WTFC ! One we are truly thankful for. WTFC looks  forward to a great partnership with THRSC . Many thanks to Kelly, Katrina And Michelle for all you do…you ladies ROCK !!!!
