The PMTC’s next regional half-day seminar will be in Milton, Ontario, on April 18th, running from 8:30 to 11:30am. The seminar will cover three diverse topics that will provide value that fleets and suppliers alike can take back to their workplace to help improve their operations.
An overview of TDG and ERAP Regulations from Transport Canada
Officials from Transport Canada (TC) will be on hand to provide an overview of TDG and Emergency Response regulations that carriers should be aware of. TC will also inform attendees of the tools and support that Transport Canada provides and how to ensure you comply with regulations. Topics covered will include
- Services provided by TC during a dangerous goods incident
- Tools for emergency planners & first responders when responding to a dangerous goods incident
- Overview of the Emergency response guidebook
- Emergency response action plan (ERAP) requirements
This is a great opportunity for those who transport dangerous goods to get information and legal requirements from Transport Canada directly, as well as have an opportunity to ask questions directly to a TC Dangerous goods inspector.
Natural gas commercial vehicle solutions and infrastructure
Reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) and other pollutants has become a major focus of governments and society at large for the last number of years. The commercial vehicle industry has sought solutions that reduce its GHG footprint. One of the solutions to help reduce harmful GHG emissions is natural gas vehicles. Where is the technology now, and how viable an option is this for commercial fleets, both financially and logistically? Clean Energy Fuels, a company that provides natural gas solutions for fleets, and has over 530 CNG and LNG fueling stations across North America, including 3 that were just added to the 401 corridor between Windsor and Kingston, will be on hand to provide attendee’s with information about the current state of the technology, as well as options and solutions that are available for fleets to consider.
MELT & ELD Update
The PMTC has been heavily involved in stakeholder consultations with government on both the Electronic logging device file and the Mandatory Entry level Training file from the very beginning. Mike Millian, the President of the PMTC, will provide a brief update on where these files sit and when regulations and timelines are expected to take effect, both federally and provincially.
