The Private Motor Truck Council of Canada has announced it’s 2019 Western regional seminar as part of its ongoing series of cross-country educational half day conferences. The seminar will be held on Tuesday October 1st in Edmonton at the Delta Hotels Marriot Edmonton South Conference Centre.
Registration will start at 12:30pm, with the educational portion of the seminar running from 1pm to 5:15pm, followed by a social hour to allow for networking with attendee’s, speakers and sponsors.
The event will cover many topics that are at the forefront of the Trucking Industry.

1 to 1:30pm PMTC Young Leaders Group Introduction
Matt Richardson, PMTC YLG Chair, and Sales and Operations Manager of Kim Richardson Transportation Specialist will discuss the PMTC Young Leaders Group, the recently completed Driven to Lead Program and Industry Outreach Initiatives by the group.
1:30 to 2:30pm Productivity in Leadership

Chris Wilkinson, a program consultant for DriverCheck, will discuss the upcoming United States Drug and Alcohol Clearing House Program that comes into effect on January 6th of 2020 for all Carriers and Drivers who operate into the US. If you are a driver or carrier do you know your responsibilities? Who has to register, where to register and other important details that will affect your compliance in the Untied States? This is the place to be to find out from the experts.
3:45pm to 4:30pm The National Safety Code
Kyle May is the owner of Alberta Rose Transport Compliance Ltd, who works with Carriers all over the Province of Alberta.
Kyle will be discussing The National Safety Code, a set of 16 standards that Canadian Provinces use to ensure transportation safety, which is applicable to all Commercial Carriers. Kyle will discuss the processes needed to be in place by Carriers in order to achieve compliance with the regulations.
4:30 to 5:15pm Alberta Zero Emissions Truck Project
Jessica Lof is a Research Lead for the Canadian Energy Systems Analysis Research (CESAR) Initiative at the University of Calgary with a special interest in low carbon transition pathways for Canada’s transportation systems. Jessica will be discussing The Alberta Zero Emissions Truck Electrification Collaboration (AZETEC) project that involves the design, manufacture, and testing of two hydrogen fuel cell electric class 8 trucks suitable for freight transportation in Alberta and is a first step in a ‘Made in Alberta’ hydrogen economy. Jessica will be speaking about disruptive forces, low carbon transition pathways, the hydrogen economy, and details about the AZETEC project.

Chris’s role and responsibilities at DriverCheck include client management, onboarding of new accounts, and consulting existing and prospective clients on fitness for duty programs for a variety of industries. Chris has over 6 years of fitness for duty experience ranging from Third Party Provider management, collection site management, Medical Review Officer designated staff member, training and policy development. Chris is also one of DriverCheck’ s subject matter experts and presents on a variety of topics across Canada including supervisor roles and responsibility, medical and legal cannabis, and alcohol and drug program education. Kyle May is the owner and face of Alberta Rose Transport Compliance Ltd. Alberta born-and-raised; Kyle is passionate about seeing hard-working Albertans succeed. With experience in the Transport industry; as a Driver, Consultant and Third-Party Auditor; Kyle is no stranger to the many nuances facing Albertan businesses today.
Kyle is a dynamic teacher who brings to life subject material; he works with his clients to identify where they are non-compliant and offers individualized solutions to raise their compliance, so that they comply with all aspects of the National Safety Code. Based out of Edmonton, AB; Kyle works with Carriers all over the Province. In this seminar, Kyle will discuss the National Safety Code, which is a set of 16 standards that Canadian Provinces use to ensure transportation safety, which is applicable to all Commercial Carriers. Some carriers confuse the National Safety Code with Occupational Health and Safety, however, Occupational Health and Safety concerns itself with worksite safety and is not effective in ensuring a carrier is also compliant with all transportation safety laws. Jessica has Master of Science degree in Sustainable Energy Development, a Bachelor of Commerce degree, and a professional designation with the Canadian Institute of Traffic and Transportation.
