The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) are organizing multiple Free and Secure Trade (FAST) enrollment events in September, including two events taking place at the Calais, ME enrolment centre on September 12, 2022, and September 16, 2022, and a single-day event at the Pembina, ND enrolment centre on September 12.
More details from CBSA, including registration information is available in French and English here: Calais, ME, FAST event CBP-Calais_public and Pembina, ND, FAST event: CBP-Pembina_public.
The enrollment events are open to all conditionally approved applicants, including both new applicants and renewing members. Interviews are available to be scheduled immediately through the Trusted Traveler portal.
The Canadian Trucking Alliance (CTA) has worked collaboratively with both CBSA and CBP on the reopening of FAST enrollment centres and organizing FAST events for the industry since the beginning of the pandemic.
Previously successful FAST events were held at Fort Erie, ON, Aldergrove, B.C., Champlain, NY, and most recently at Detroit, MI, with nearly 3000 drivers being interviewed in total, assisting in reducing the application backlog significantly.
CTA can also confirm that a week-long FAST event will be taking place at Detroit, MI, port of entry beginning on September 25. Details on how to register for this event will be distributed in the coming weeks.
CTA is reminding potential applicants that if they enter the United States to complete their interview, they must meet all applicable travel requirements.
Canadian citizens and permanent residents returning to Canada can visit the COVID-19 Travel: Checklists for requirements and exemptions webpage to ensure they meet requirements to enter Canada, including the completion of the ArriveCAN application.
The Alliance continues to work with the Government of Canada and the United States on the reopening of Canadian enrollment centre locations and will update members as more information becomes available.
