This week we are helping host the Biz and Breakfast with our longtime Transrep customer ISB Global. COVID halted this event the past couple of years but were back it and the line up is amazing. It will be educational and you and your company will be better after attending.
I hope to see you there.
Next month I have been asked to speak at the NationalLease Conference in Toronto. As always I am honoured and willing to speak and present when my schedule allows it. They have asked me speak about Recruiting and Retention. NationalLease is one of the largest full service truck leasing organizations in North America and comprised of over 120 independent businesses. Their customers represent a combined fleet of of over 165,000 tractors, trucks and trailers. They have been around for over 78 years.
I am going to speak about the War on Talent. For nearly 40 years we have worked with companies and people to recruit and retain people in our industry. We have learned a thing or two about this subject. We probably have learned more over the past couple years on how to hire especially during difficult times. Our industry was never as busy during COVID and companies desperately needed talent in all areas of the industry.
I can’t share my presentation because that would not be fare to those who will be attending the conference but I can give you a nibble of the content. The War on Talent will continue. It has been here since enterprise and business started and will be here forever. What really matters is how you deal with it.
Using data as your guide, your company adapt and stand out to potential employees. What gets measured gets managed and we have all heard the saying “figures never lie and liars never figure”, so very true. I am going to share a ton of stats so people and their companies can adjust accordingly.
The bottom line is you shouldn’t run your business without constant eyes on your finances. Your budget helps determine strategic business decisions. The same is true with your recruiting and retention statistics. If you ignore the data, your flying blind. You can however, take proactive measures using data so that you can stay on top of hiring trends and continue to attract and retain top talent with in the industry.
I want to thank my long time industry friend Peter Macgillivary from the east coast for recommending me to speak at the conference, looking forward to it.
As time permits I look forward to doing more speaking over the coming years. If your interested in having me out to your event, conference or business give me a call.
