The team at TransRep and the National Recruiting & Retention Symposium (NRRS) are excited to announce that Jessica Mata has been named the 2023 National Recruiter of the Year. The award presentation, sponsored by tenstreet, took place at the sold out 4th annual NRRS, held in Brampton, ON on April 27th 2023.

Mata, Recruiting & Retention Manager at Wellington Group of Companies, received the award from Marilyn Surber, Transportation Leader at tenstreet, who sponsored the award.

The National Recruiter of the Year must meet certain criteria to qualify. Some of the criteria includes:
• Inspires and brings out the best in others
• 5 years in transportation in a recruitment role
• Expresses passion about their role as a professional recruiter in the transportation industry
• Demonstrates exceptional results in their role
• Has demonstrated proven recruitment strategies
• Received letters of recommendation

The submission for Jessica not only met but exceeded the criteria and included multiple letters of recommendation, examples of recruiting strategies also volunteerism that she has demonstrated. She has worked in the transportation industry for over 20 years. Jessica’s experience in the industry includes dispatching, operations, customers service, customs and recruiting.

Jessica Mata said “I’m still in awe, after winning the award for “National Recruiter of the Year”. I am glad I didn’t faint or trip on my way to accept the award. This was very unexpected, in the most wonderful way!! It honestly means so much to me that I am being recognized for my commitment to be an advocate for drivers. It’s a very humbling feeling to know that my efforts make a difference in the lives of those I connect with. This industry has allowed me to build positive and meaningful relationships with some of the best people I’ve ever met. I am very fortunate to be surrounded by others that have the same passion and drive as me, it has helped build me into the professional I am today!”
