The Private Motor Truck Council of Canada has announced an exciting addition to it’s line up of speakers as part of it’s 2018 Annual Conference.
On June 14th, as part of it’s second seminar of the conference, “CMV On Road Safety, an officers perspective”, Staff Sergeant Michael Hinsperger of the Waterloo Regional Police Service, and Chair of the Ontario Police Commercial Vehicle Committee, (OPCVC) and Constable Pat Martin, Vice Chair of the OPCVC, will walk attendee’s through some stats and information obtained from their CMV safety blitzes. Included in this presentation will be statistics, defects found, driver and officer interaction, among other interesting and helpful insights to help drivers and their companies be prepared if they get stopped for an inspection. Mike and Pat will also discuss the issue of distracted driving and other current road safety related issues. The seminar will wrap up with a moderated question and answer period, and the PMTC is very excited to announce they have been able to obtain the vast insight and knowledge of Industry veteran John Oldfield to moderate this session. “ Johnny O has spent over 40 years in the Trucking Industry, and anyone who has had the privilege of hearing John speak about the industry understands his passion and vast knowledge of it, as well as the excitement he still holds in his heart for this industry.”, stated PMTC President Mike Millian. John began in the trucking Industry in the 70’s as a driver, to put himself through university. He spent 20 years driving long haul before coming off the road and working as a risk manager, helping fleets get legal and operate safely. The risk manager role morphed into a career as an insurance broker over 20 years ago. John has worked for Dalton Timmis for the last 20 years, insuring the trucks he says he still loves.
This seminar is scheduled for 9:15am on June 14th, and is part of the PMTC’s full 2 day conference, which includes 7 educational seminars, 3 awards banquets and 2 Networking opportunities with Conference sponsors and exhibitors.
“Each year those who attend the PMTC Annual Conference tell us it is one of the best educational and networking values they receive in the transportation industry. We believe this year’s line up of speakers continues to build on that reputation”, says PMTC President, Mike Millian.
A full schedule of topics and events is listed below, and the full brochure with details and registration is up on the PMTC website at www.pmtc.ca.
