The Professional Truck Training Alliance of Canada (PTTAC) is pleased to announce that the Private Motor Truck Council of Canada (PMTC) and Trucking Human Resource Sector Council Atlantic (THRSC Atlantic) have joined the movement as Association Members.

Founded in 2023, the PTTAC will be the unified voice of commercial truck training in Canada with a mandate to standardize and support programs offered in each province and territory.

PTTAC Chairperson Jim Campbell is pleased to welcome the PMTC and THRSC Atlantic to the Alliance’s mission, vision, and drive for change. “The PMTC and THRSC Atlantic have been very involved with entry-level driver training in Canada,” says Campbell. “As we move forward with the success of the Alliance, our stakeholders will be an essential part of the process. Kelly Henderson, Executive Director of the THRSC Atlantic, and Mike Millian, President of the PMTC, bring a wealth of experience on transportation matters – and together, will bring plenty to the table.”

Kelly Henderson is pleased to be part of the Alliance as an Association Member. “The THRSC Atlantic has been involved in truck driver industry standards since 1995 setting the twelve-week standard for entry-level professional drivers in Nova Scotia and in turn Atlantic Canada. We have a vested interest in seeing a high standard for entry-level training continue and are pleased to see a training group prepared to train for the best interest of their graduates and their partners in the trucking industry,” says Henderson.

Mike Millian is honoured to be a part of this forward-looking organization and looks forward to a future of improvement in education, training, and overall road safety. “The PTTAC and PMTC share a passion to improve the safety and compliance of our training industry, the quality of newly licensed drivers, and overall road safety. Having a national association in place – to help training schools across the country and act as a voice for the training industry from coast to coast – has long been a need in Canada, and I am glad to be part of one that is making this very thing happen,” says Millian.

The PTTAC is the only national group in Canada that represents commercial truck driver training businesses and will drive progress in education, training, and road safety through expertise and influence. Campbell says that since the Alliance’s preliminary announcement, a number of schools and affiliate members have joined – and they’re just getting started.
