With the announcement of the COVID-19 it has gotten a little crazy in our world.  It amazes me how a pandemic can bring the best out in some people, my pal Mike Millian President of the PMTC quickly reminded me in a recent conversation it can also bring out the worst in people as well.  He is right, just look at the lack of toilet paper on the shelf, really!  I was more concerned about the essentials which don’t include toilet paper.

Once again our industry has proven to me and others the good of so many in this great fraternity called “Trucking”.  For us at Transrep it was an easy decision to move the date for the National Recruiting and Retention Symposium from April to June 25-26th, 2020.  The health and wellness of our families, industry colleagues and communities will always be paramount.  I’m proud of my team, it is in exceptional times that exceptional people do exceptional things.

I want to thank the fine folks at Truck World for changing the date of Canada’s biggest truck show, the effort that will go behind making that change shows true leadership at its finest.  Honestly we had no intentions of renting space at Truck World until they did what they did, we were going to be satisfied to walk the floor for a day seeing our customers.  After seeing what they did we said the hell with that – were going to be there, were going to support Truck World. Why, because it’s the right thing to do.

As I mentioned, I’m proud of our team, very proud. When we got together to discuss what we were going to do I sat back, seeing the true colours of my people and my family.  It was not even considered to run the Symposium on the scheduled date.   I am satisfied with the decision.  A big thank you to Lionhead Golf and Conference Center for accommodating the request to change.

We will run the Symposium at the end of June and like the fine people at Truck World we want to be seen as good corporate citizens and good people. This industry is full full of good people.

I want say congrats to my friends at Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) for another amazing conference.  Without a doubt one of my favorite associations on the planet and the team at TCA is simply amazing.  A big shout out to all the Canadian Carriers who took to the stage to pick up the well deserved hardware.  Let’s not forget Carriers Edge who shine a great light on our industry with the Best Fleets to Drive For Awards, your leadership has been instrumental to our industry.

See you all at Truck World! Stop by our booth, were going to have an amazing prize for someone to win.
