Have you heard of the saying – Figures never lie and liars never figure? True story in most cases. Most of us in leadership roles love seeing the results of surveys. Surveys and results are important and tell us critical things that can affect our businesses, associations and events.

In a recent trade publication there was a survey about Trucking Events. I was a little surprised at some of the results:

28.8% of those that completed the survey said they will attend no industry events. Shocker!

24.6% said they would only attend 1. Really?

Wow! No time? No budget? No interest?

If you want to learn, get better at what you do, become the best of the best you need to get out and rub shoulders with other industry people. Industry leaders, your peers. Over the years that has been so important to our companies and our peoples success. For me it is critical.

In the same survey 48.1% said the reason why they go to events is to network with peers and 41.9% go to events to learn about industry trends.87% said they would rather attend an in person event over a virtual event. These are the positives for me from the survey. Over the many years of being in this industry myself, my family, my team have attended 100’s of events on both sides of the border – truck shows, conferences, networking events, award nights, educational forums and list goes on. Our companies belong, participate and support many groups and associations in Canada and the USA. We invest tens of thousands of dollars annually in registrations, sponsorships, advertising etc.

Is it worth it? You bet, every penny. The ROI to us is not only measured by our bottom line but it is part of who we are, our culture, our brand(s) and actively participating is a cornerstone to our success. Time is without a doubt our most valuable resource – investing time to be at industry events and conferences is very important at KRTS, Transrep and The Rearview Mirror. It should be important to you.

Speaking of events the TTSAO Conference is just around the corner. Over a few short years this conference has become a “don’t miss” for the industry. Schools carriers, insurance, government, publications, service providers all under one roof. The conference is affordable, under $300.00 to attend. It is a educational and informative with hot topics and industry experts sharing best practices in many areas of our industry.

July 26th/27th – Lionhead Golf & Conference Centre in Mississauga is the place to be.

If you want to learn more go to https://ttsao.com/ttsao-conference/ to see the full agenda and get registered!

We will see you in 2022 at the TTSAO Conference!
